Is it possible that the old modem was programmed with the phone number
loaded in a register somewhere? We have some modems that dial as soon as
they are varied on. We have a phone number hard loaded into the modem's
flash memory. It dials that number as soon as TR is turned on.

Hope this helps,

Subject: News/400 Paging Program

We recently went to a RISC box and in the process went from the old 2400
Baud IBM modem for ECS to a new 7852-400. The new modem works great for
ECS but I cannot get it to work with our PAGER program. Our PAGER
program is the one from the News/400 magazine that simply varys on a
line and controller (after setting up the phone number to be dialed on
the controller description), and waits a few seconds and varys
everything off.

Our problem is that the new 7852-400 does not autodial when the
controller is varied on, as the old 2400 baud modem did. Since we
carried over all our configuration descriptions from our old CISC box, I
figured it should work as before, but it doesn't. I did check to make
sure that AUTODIAL was on and it is.

When I do a SNDPTFORD, I can see and hear the new modem dial, however
when I try to use our PAGER program, the modem does not dial.

Anyone have any thoughts on how to get this new modem to autodial?

Thanks,
Dave
