This is true, but at least you know that the program you are running is
the same one you tested. I much prefer to see programs moved rather than
compiled into production, but you need to know that the source matches
the object. It's possible to devise an audit trail so that the program
still points to the development library, but the audit trail shows the
time stamp when that member was copied to the target library and removed
from development.

Another thing you can do is to rename the replaced object instead of
deleting it. Keep a numeric data area for next number, and rename each
object to something like RENAMnnnnn. As an added bonus you can change
the text of the object and source member to "Renamed from XXXXXXXXXX on
yyyy/mm/dd at hh:mm:ss", or whatever. If you really want to go in for
overkill you can store the old texts in a database file keyed by new
name (the RENAMnnnnnn), then even the object and member texts can be
recovered.
