I have done this, but I didn't use DDM.  I just placed jobs on the job
scheduler on the remote AS/400's (you could just place them at the end of
teh backup job) that do a SNDNETF of the files from the remote to the 
central AS/400.  Then they submit via SBMNETJOB a job to run on the central
AS/400 that does a RCVNETF of the file just sent, and could do other 
processing too if required.
(Requires you to use WRKNETJOBE on central AS/400 and create an entry for
the user you are going to send the job to with SBMNETJOB, that has an
Action of *SUBMIT).
All you need figure out is a way to determine when all files from all
remote systems have been sent before firing up final job on central
system (maybe simply add that to the job submitted from the 400 that
will send it's file last).
