Usually the problem with spontaneous rebooting with Check Version and Win95 are due to Check Version running before Win95 has completed it's startup process.  Check Version tries to access resources Win95 is still allocating and viola - ReBoot occurs.

To correct this problem (it has worked 100% of the time for us so far) add a delay to the Check Version shortcut in the Startup folder.  You do this by adding a number to the LOGIN parameter of the shortcut.  Something like: "C:\Program Files\IBM\Client Access\cwbckver.exe"  LOGIN 10   would wait 10 seconds before starting the login process.
