  • Subject: TCP/IP interface startup problem
  • From: Mark Welte <MWelte@xxxxxxxx>

We have STRTCP in our QSTRUP program. In the QTCPIP joblog, we get these
messages everytime we IPL the 40S (V3R7).

Job 010770/QTCP/QTCPIP started on 07/05/97 at 01:17:37 in subsystem
QSYSWRK in QSYS. Job entered system on 07/05/97 at 01:17:35.
Job 010770/QTCP/QTCPIP submitted.
QTCPIP job started.
127.0.0.1 interface started.
Line ETHLINE already varied on.
Vary on completed for controller ETHLINET.
Wait on event operation not satisfied in specified time interval.
The request did not complete in the time allotted.
Vary command not processed.

<the above five messages repeat about 8 more times>

Then this message

192.101.1.4 interface not started.

Then the five messages repeat a few more times then the other interfaces
start:

Line ETHLINE already varied on.
Controller ETHLINET currently on-line.
Device ETHLITCP currently on-line.
QTCPIP job starting 192.101.2.4 interface.
QTCPIP job starting 192.201.1.4 interface.
QTCPIP job starting 192.202.1.4 interface.
QTCPIP job starting 172.17.16.57 interface.
QTCPIP job starting 192.101.3.4 interface.
192.101.2.4 interface started.
192.201.1.4 interface started.
192.202.1.4 interface started.
172.17.16.57 interface started.
192.101.3.4 interface started.

When we come in on Monday morning, we have to start 192.101.1.4
manually. It gives us no error when we do that. Does anyone know what
could be causing this to happen? Thanks for any help that can be
provided.
