Don, I think we all have seen people foolishly putting in NT where 400s
should be. However, that doesn't spell doom for the 400 by any means! I
think that the problem is that many people think the AS/400 is just a
green screen machine. Unfortunately, a lot of those people are 400
"experts" who should know better. 

The AS/400 is seeing a lot of new life as well. Packaging as a web server,
data warehouse, etc. can make it very inviting to some businesses. IBM is
working very hard to try and educate it's marketing channel as to the full
range of uses for AS/400s. If they can succeed in training the people who
represent the 400, all will be well. If not, then it certainly appears the
NT and HP/3000s will be in the future, and system reliability will be a
thing of the past.
