I don't know if there are any MAPICS gurus on the list, but I'm a long-time
MAPICS victim, if that counts. <g>

Is your client running MAPICS I or MAPICS II? I think I remember that
original MAPICS I required closing each period and year before making entries
for subsequent periods/years. MAPICS II and later grudgingly allows making
entries for subsequent periods and years, although getting good reports for
those subsequent periods isn't fully supported - it gets cranky about
year-to-date calculations and the like.

Many people used to modify MAPICS I GL to work the same as MAPICS II GL, so I
know that can be done, but I don't know how involved it is to do it. If this
is a one-time situation, it's probably not worth the effort.

Good luck with it, holler if there's any more help and/or moral support I can
provide!
