  • Subject: TCP/IP to AS/400

Hi Everybody!

I am attempting to connect most of our pc's through TCP/IP to the AS/400. I
am concerned with a couple of issues.

1. All devices are named QPADEVxxx, from previous threads it appears that I
am stuck with this naming convention. Is there any way this can be changed?
2. I have set the QAUTOVRT system value to 30 until I have finished
connecting all the pc's that I need. I am a concerned that this could be a
security hole?

What do other sites do?

Currently we connect through an SAA gateway (V2.0) using Netsoft's router
and Attachmate's Rally!

I was interested to hear that someone had a 4FF error code whilst starting
the NS/Router in a previous message. We had that code last week and were
told it was probably that our SAA gateway had not been rebooted for some
time, 83 days in fact, which was when we upgraded to version 2.0.

Thanks, in advance!
