  • Subject: TCPIP 5250 session hangs

I've been having trouble running CA95 5250 emulation with a TCPIP
connection. When I run certain functions (e.g., WRKUSRJOB, DSPSPLF,
etc.) the emulation session hangs in input-inhibited mode. The output
from the command is never displayed! The interactive job on the AS400 is
waiting for input from the device. It appears to have processed the
command and sent the output to the display device and is waiting for
input from the display.

The emulation program on the workstation is not hung up, though. I can
disconnect and re-connect to get another sign-on display. I can sign on
and work without problem, if I avoid the commands mentioned above.

The odd thing is, the problem doesn't happen all the time. Some days it
never happens. Another day happens the first time I run one of the
commands mentioned above.

My workstation is running Win95. It's connected to an Ethernet LAN.
There is a bridge to the token ring LAN which gives access to the AS400.

PS

I'm largely ignorant of networking technology, so please forgive if my
descriptions of such are less than accurate.
