Opps, sent prior request as a reply
I have a friend (Honest!) that is attempting to do record level access
from Visual Basic (32 bit Win95) to the AS/400 (V3R6 & V3R7). The
performance of SQL was unacceptable as he was joining four files, and it
appeared that after the last record for a particular selection criteria
was read, the system continued to read all of the records in the file.
Since the files are large, response was something like sub-HOUR, but
barely!

He wants to try old fashioned chains to the individual files, and would
like to know if anyone has any experience with any ot the 3rd part API
or DLLs available. He has looked at DDA, and it looks interesting, but
is a little pricey for what he wants to do.

Any comments, suggestions, words of wisdom, etc?

Thanks
