We've had similar problems, and recently installed PTFs under 3.1 to correct
the problem.  The PTFs presented some problems of their own (occasionally,
the job is SO persistant that it takes ENDJOBABN 10 minutes to end it after
the ENDJOB was issued).  With the exception of the occasional occurance of
the previously mentioned incident, the PTFs seem to have corrected the
problem.  What OS/400 version are you running?
