No, I was thinking of the logical file being in a completely different
order from the physical file.

That is why I was asking  -  I had assumed that the RRN number was
connected to the arrival sequence of the records and not the logical
sequence.  Then something John Carr said last week made me realize my
assumption may be very wrong.  Hence the question.
