Gary:

You are on the right track here.  You need the 6141 ($500) (and of
course an open I/O slot).  USR 28.8 external modem($125 each) on both
sides (they are cheap and widely used), a modem cable from ASCII
controller to USR on the AS/400 side ($25).  You need to configure ASCII
controller.  You can use software like WinAPPC($55) or Client
Access($$$$).  The USR modem on the AS/400 side needs the dip switches
set differently (it is on Netsoft's web site).  My suggestion is you try
this out on a PC at work by dialing from one line at work to the other
line so you can solve communication problems quickly.
