Seriously..... 

Yes, the entire Data Processing Department is on the UPS, along with our
phone system.  We've attempted to assure that at least one terminal in on
generator in every area, so they can operate with limited functionality.
Depending on the type of disaster (tornado etc), some areas may be lightly
staffed to take care of the patients.  The business office, for example, may
have to assist in tagging patients or helping with family and visitors,so
their functionality (for a limited time) could be reduced.

Our generator is tested monthly (required!). As for patient records, they
are stored in our Medical Records department, and we don't have access to
them "instantly" now.  Someone physically must go to the department and get
them, which depending on what shift it is, could take some time.

And as for the computer being no good without users signed on...... you must
have never spent much time in operations.....  :-)     A day without users
signed on, is a day without stupid user questions or problems !! I'd like to
have more of them !!!  <wink>
