Re: Personal information in resumes?

Don't they require you to "answer", but allow you to specify a "prefer not to answer"? I see that a lot for other non-governmental jobs, mostly for race and gender. I always answer that I'm a white male, cuz I figure that using the "prefer not to answer" will hurt me more (even though they say otherwise).
