Thank you for the kind words Jon,

I freely admit I'm torn on this issue. Philosophically, I'm a free
market / free trader all the way. But I also understand how market
pressure can effect corporate behaviour, and how government
subsidisation has a crippling effect on FAIR market and trade. It's a
conundrum, and boy do I hate that word.

In many ways, the third world are exactly where we were at the
beginning of the last century. 'Sweat shops' were the order of the
day, and workers had no power they knew how to wield. but once they
understood what they could do, eventually they exerted that power and
made us what we are today.

until the rest of the world is given the chance to exert that pressure
on their own, they'll never catch up and we'll constantly be fighting
this battle.

As to the term 'sweat shop', ask the chinese who work in them if
they'd rather work in a sweat shop or not work at all. Already,
we're seeing the beginnings of the true peoples revolution in china -
demonstrations and the chinese gvmt (our 1900 era big business)
fighting back.

who's going to win that one? It'll take time, but i'm rooting for the people.

Rick
