One of A.C.Coy Company's strategic Clients located in the Pittsburgh,
Pennsylvania area currently is looking for an IT Operations Engineer -
I-Series Administrator

The IT I-Series Support Operations Engineer's role is to observe and
control the company's IBM I-Series (AS/400) server and peripheral
equipment for the purpose of uninterrupted data processing, operating
runs, and batch program jobs. This includes monitoring system consoles
for error lights and error messages, failures, and network malfunctions.
The Operations Engineer is also responsible for diagnosing problems
based on his or her findings, and will apply proven analytical and
problem-solving skills to help identify and resolve malfunctions.

Responsibilities

* Operate, observe, and monitor the company's I-Series server

and the applications running on that server (primarily JDEdwards), and
peripheral equipment for faulty output and errors to ensure overall
correct operation procedures.

* Adjust, manipulate, and respond to console requests, commands,

workflow procedures, and job runs.

* Analyze and determine source of system errors, malfunctions,

job stoppages, and program information to ensure that operation
standards are met and upheld.

* Identify and resolve system issues in order to maintain

services, enhance capabilities, and prevent system outages.

* Report system problems to appropriate technical staff and

confer with them to resolve production issues.

* Operate and maintain peripheral equipment as required,

including tape drives, DVD drives and others.

* Review and evaluate production reports, and scheduled jobs to

ensure continued operation.

* Perform day-to-day maintenance of systems hardware, tape

drives, and related equipment.

* Troubleshoot and resolve operational issues for end-users, and

assist with end-user questions or programming inquiries.

* Where required, perform system backups to tape.

* Assist in development and drafting of operating instruction

documents and data analysis methodologies for use by other personnel.

* Prepare and deliver reports, recommendations, or alternatives

that address existing and potential trouble areas for the I-Series and
related hardware.

* Serve as backup to the JDEdwards system administrator and

provide application support as necessary.

 

Position Requirements

* Minimum of high school education or equivalent, and 3 years

related work experience.

* Bachelor's degree in computer science preferred.

* Proven experience in the operation of I-Series or AS/400

hardware

* Extensive practical knowledge of data input and output

procedures, job control processes, and system backup protocols.

* Experience with JDEdwards OneWorld/EnterpriseOne strongly

preferred.

* Working technical knowledge of CL programming.

* Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

* Excellent listening and interpersonal skills.

* Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a

high-pressure environment.

* Good written and oral communication skills.

* Ability to conduct research into systems issues and products

as required.

* Highly self motivated and directed.

* Keen attention to detail.

* Strong customer service orientation.

* Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative

environment.

Work Conditions

 

Salary is up to 70K with full benefits.
