Copy Item/Line Definitions

Hi,

We are implementing REP in a wire factory and have found the need to be able to Copy existing Item/Line definitions as we have multiple Production Lines on which a product can be manufactured. I have found that there is an Item/Line business object in EI, but it doesn't provide any maintenance functionality; would this mean that System-Link couldn't be used to develop a function to provide the copy requirements?

Any help or suggestions are gratefully accepted.
