Hello ML,

I missed XA so much that I had to come back!

As a former customer I have posted on this board many times to ask various
functional or technical questions, but this is my first post as a Channel
Partner now that I have joined Guide Technologies!

I am helping to work on a presentation highlighting why the IBM AS/400 /
iSeries / System i / Power System servers are so reliable and secure. I
have some experiences with these strengths from my 23 years years at
Shur-Lok, but wanted to reach out to others in the XA community and see
what interesting stories you might have to share about this topic.

An image that comes to mind is one I heard some years ago, but have
forgotten the source. This compny's IBM server got wet due to a flood and
they thought it was gone, only to discover when it dried it worked again as
if it was brand new! Now I know that a story of how reliable and secure
the system is doesn’t necessarily have to include a natural disaster, but
you get the idea! I am simply looking for any interesting or unique
stories you might have to share emphasizing how great this solution so many
of us have worked with and enjoyed for so many years really is.

I had my own story to add, but acknowledge that it’s use is limited because
it’s my own!

"I can attest to the durability and robustness of the platform because I
ran an 820 for 12 years, 11 of which without any OS support!"

Imagine satisfying a company’s business needs with a machine that old,
and without an update for over a decade. When it was replaced, it was not
due to performance, but the need to update the business software (XA) to a
newer version which would not run on the dated OS. And the company even
asked for proof that we couldn't simply update the OS on the old box to
support the new ERP version.

Thanks in advance for any comments you have!!

Feel free to reply privately if you prefer.
