Everyone,
Outside of applying PCM 2390 any other issues going from R9 to R9.1 ? We applied a multi-currency PTF that was specific for getting multi-currency installed and needed for R9.1 migration. The PTF impacted our scheduled MRP nightly job runs causing data-decimal error when the job was submitted to PGM: AMICK. Something changed on the LDA changing MLTWH zoned 1,0 now has a blank causing the data-decimal error.

What client level are you on? Just to verify. We are one or two weekends from moving forward with R9.1.
Does anyone have test scripts created for testing production to test environment verification or do you just log on to test and manually test application and results for test verification?

Another question now that were discussing R9.1 What is the best and easy method of refreshing our test environment. I followed the dialog between restore from tape to test as well as comments of using XA's environment transfer feature on Link Manager. How does the environment transfer work? Can this be scheduled? I'd like to refresh my environment weekly or even daily if I can setup as a schedule job.
Thanks, all. Jim

Chris:

To upgrade from Rel. 9.0 to Rel. 9.1 it is as simple as applying PCM 2390 and the most recent client.

Sorry I was unclear...

I meant upgrading from R9.0 to R9.1.

Hi Charles:
I am migrating from Rel. 7 to Rel. 9.1 and the migration is not that difficult.

Some of the issues you should consider are:
- very important to have Infor or your affiliate perform a performance evaluation to ensure
you have enough power in your Systemi to avoid performance issues at Rel. 9.1
- to migrate from Rel. 7 to Rel. 9.1 Infor offers a migration tool that basically does it all except
for any modifications that you may have done.
- Infor or your affiliate should be able to help or guide you thru the Rel. 6 to Rel. 7 migration.

Once migrated the flexibility of Power Link over Brower is like night and day. The customization of views, templates, subsets, cards, cardfiles, workbenches, sorts are easy and amazingly helpful for your users.

Well worth the effort.

Steve

I was under the impression that after R9.0, release upgrades (or whatever they're called now) were supposed to be smoother. Has anyone done this yet? Any opinions?

Charlie,

I am an IT department of 1 AS400 person. So I know what you mean,

It is a huge project to upgrade. We were at release 6 also. I went with the highest level I could. 9.1 came out a month before conversion, so I could mess things up being that close, or I would have went right to 9.1.

My idea is if you are going to spend that much time you might just as well go to the latest and greatest or you will be behind before you up and
running. Well I was still behind by the time I got up and running this
April. Now I have to plan an upgrade to 9.1. YIPPEE!

Good Luck!

To all

I have a simple question that I think does not have a simple answer. We are a small it department of 2, we need to upgrade our current release of MAPICS, the question is which release should we go to? We have a large investment in KBC that we do not want to lose at this time. we are currently at release 6. Does anyone have any suggestions on which release we should go to? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
