I would also highly recommend System-Link. There is a Local Program Interface provided with System-Link to make it easy for RPG programmers to submit requests. Power-Link also has an menu option to give you the System-Link XML for the transaction that you are entering. Also there is a Simulator to allow you to test your XML with a browser before inserting it into your interface programs.

James
I would STRONGLY recommend you consider System-Link for any serious
integration development. That is the message Infor has been telling us
for quite some time. It works well and is truely "release transparent".
It is XML based but you don't necessarily have to learn a lot of XML
development skills to use it. (Some tools/tricks available to help with
that, even for RPG developers).

Enterprise Integrator obvoiusly brings a lot more to the table than System
Link but that is just one piece. E/I will let you migration your own
applications/files into the IDF framework, as well as leverage System Link
for "data pushes" into your files or Xa files (or XA files with your
extentions/user fields).

If you want to grow with the product E/I and S/L is the tools to embrace.
Your affiliate can give you more details.

Subject: [MAPICS-L] EPDM offline load calls

BODY { font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:12px; }
Hi Everyone,

I've searched the list and found some interesting bits about EPDM
and offline load. I have some questions:

1. Is offline load going to be cancelled in favor of System-Link?
There was an entry in this list from 2010 saying it would be dropped
in Release 10 in 2012, but I can't find anything from Infor about
Release 10 to confirm this.

2. If that happens, the Release 9 documentation specifies that if
you want to maintain objects that have extensions you will need
Enterprise Integrator. Then question here is, "How big of a deal is
that?"

3. Regarding EPDM, in particular: with PDM, I could call offline
load RPG programs directly from an RPG program (no batch job
necessary) because I had the source code and, therefore, knew how to
call the programs to make them work. But with EPDM, there is precious
little source code available. Does anyone know how to call the EPDM
offline load RPG programs directly? (There was a tip in this list
about submitting the EPDM offline loads to batch, but I want it
inline so that I can continue doing other things when it is done.)

Any insight would be appreciated.

Thanks

James
