Pete,

I am not really sure about what level of documentation you are looking for but I used Hawkeye's Pathfinder to document systems and was pretty satisfied with how it worked. It had been on the system but not updated for years at my last shop. When I ran the analysis function, it did a decent job of building a cross reference database. I was able to perform where used analysis on files and programs. I think there were also options for printing system flow diagrams. We were running MAPICS 5.5 with a lot of custom programs and no system documentation. I did benefit from a lot of decent user written procedures. This level of documentation provided a better understanding of how the systems were being used as compared to what they were capable of.

Good Luck,
Jon

Subject: [MAPICS-L] documentation

Gang,
Good Afternoon....
Just curious what others are doing in this area. I have a customer with a new
I.T. director. (like maybe only 6 months). He has a Manager with over 30 years.
They have addon packages and lots of custom code. They have no real
documentation. Most is in one or two peoples head.

Mainly flowchrating would be a long tedious job. Especially for an outsider.
Just wonder what others have and are doing? Is there a 3rd party package that
could assist, or do a decent job? Something does not require days of training to
use.
I know infor has their EPAK for users.

thanks in advance
