Eric,

Understood! I even attended a HelpSystems ROBOT Conference in the past when we had this product and know they still have a wide community of ROBOT users. However, when we elected to add partitions, the biggest factor was they were going to charge extra for us to load their ROBOT products onto each partition, hence more in annual maintenance cost. RevSoft handles their pricing of their product per serial number, not partition. This was our deciding factor to research other products. For about the price of annual maintenance for ROBOT products, I was able to find this RevSoft replacement product and save my company money.

All their products are IBM proven and John Massey the owner tells me that IBM even uses the RevSoft product. I'm just tossing this information out to the group for any that is considering the functionality you get and the costs. I am a firm believer of this product as we have been using it for years on 5 partitions with the HA built-in functionality. I am also aware of other companies that have had ROBOT and now use RevSoft as I have been a customer referral for them.

Claude,
While I understand your cost justification on RevSoft's product, ROBOT is the industry standard and you will more likely find more available resources with ROBOT experience. In twenty five years of consulting, I have never seen RevSoft in any of my clients but have seen ROBOT in 8 out of 10 accounts.

My two cents...
Eric

Hello,

So if you want to compare cost between Helpsystems ROBOT products to RevSoft's RevScheduler, you can save a money by purchasing RevSoft. I have done the cost justification and you do get a fast ROI with RevSoft for all the same functionality and more. I am not a salesman and do not want to be but if you are looking at ROBOT products, you are not doing your company justification by not compare it with RevSoft. If anyone wants to contact me on this, I would be more than happy to discuss this product offline.

Sure...

I have no idea of the cost of this product.

Here is a list of ROBOT Replay processes. Some are general statements of Infor XA processes, not exact names.

COM Invoicing - probably a mix of MTD-created processes and Infor XA
Print PO COM Offline Price Update MISL order release Regular order
release On Order Audit Allocation Audit MO closeout and purge Forecast
Reconciliation and Generate Master Schedule ,we no longer use these
End U jobs, Hold U jobs, Release U jobs, Start U jobs PMC Prepare PMC
Select and Edit PO Offline creation - option 13. Create Purchase
orders from offline file on menu AM6M10

Sue,

I'd be very grateful if you could list the other XA processes you schedule with Replay. We already have MRP scheduled through the IBM job scheduler and years ago wrote a custom batch invoicing routine that runs nightly.

I'm thinking that Replay might be useful for us to run COM month end close, COM inventory transaction registers, on order quantity audits and allocation quantity audits. However, these alone won't allow me to justify the cost to management.

Thanks,

Bryan

Good morning,

This is my first response to a discussion with this group. I've learned much from these.

I am not pushing any product, but we use Help System's ROBOT products and one of these is ROBOT Replay. It automates interactive processes used to submit a batch job. It mimics keystrokes. It supports TCP/IP and FTP too. You can then place this Replay object in their scheduler product. I use this for PMC Select and Edit and Order Releases and other Infor XA processes.

Sue
