Kent,

Please note that R7 (pre-R7.8) is not compatible and will never be made compatible with IBM i7.1.
So if you are planning to move up from R6 with the intent to have your XA version be compatible with IBM i7.1, you must move to R7.8 or R9 (i7.1 compatibility for these will be announced in the very near future).

Thx,
Christophe.

Subject: Re: [MAPICS-L] Anybody running Release 5.5 on V5R4?

Gogo400,

There has to be justification to update to a new release. We are a small shop and to update to R6 or R7 was estimated at 6 months of work for a single programmer (1/3 of our programming staff). The move to R6 or R7 is only because of the need to be able to update our OS to 6.1 or 7.1. The availability of KBC in a release is also a factor. If KBC is available in R7.8 then maybe that will be the release we go to. My manager is the MAPICS expert and he will determine what release will work the best for us. If 7.8 will work for us and doesn't require more then 6 months of work to prepare, then I hope we go with 7.8.

Thanks,
Kent
