James--- Just what kind of box are you running?

Thanks, All, for your great replies. Very helpful.

Unfortunately, it looks like we do have the major performance-related PTF
-
86203 - installed and running. So I guess that means that support was
there
and offered the recommended solution.

However, we still have the slow-down, and I guess this is where support
hasn't been able to help us resolve it, yet.

Based on the suggestions from you all, there are 3 other possibilities:

1. We have an under-sized system.
2. We have a lot of transactions that affect finances.
3. We have a lot of transactions getting recalculated for things like
exchange rates.

I would prefer to understand the problem a little more before going to the
help desk. (Please understand that I'm neither an IFM or financial guru.)

1. When talking about how PSVTUE updates transactions, does that include
historical transactions? E.g. does something like an exchange rate change
cause an update to historical financial data, or only open transactions?
(Maybe we need to archive some data for once? ;-)

2. One of the replies included reference to 'new balance summary files'.
Is
there an option to continue to use 'old' files in IFM for reporting our
finances? If so, is there a chance that our finance division wouldn't
notice
if we held this job indefinitely? (I'm guessing this is a bad idea, but I
need an expert answer in order to make a sound recommendation for what to
do
next.)

3. Here are some summaries of transaction Ids - there are two sets - one
from Saturday, and one from today. Can anyone provide insight into why the
big numbers on BSFDENCHG, and why the numbers, in general are going up? I
thought the system should be catching up instead of falling further
behind!?

Thanks, again, for your assistance.
