My initial purpose is to monitor the usage of Power Link, and with your approach definitely I can make use of it further for what you ar edoing.

Thanks Kevin, for your additional thoughts/advice/inputs.

This probably isn't what you need or not related, but I'll add this to the
thread. A while back we wanted to monitor Power LInk usage (vs. legacy
activity). The issue was are the people embracing for example entering
PO's using Procurement vs going back to old habits.

We found the MNHHDR/MNHDTL maintenance history files useful. You can query
these directly in Power Link by user. As long as audit/maintenance history
is active, and it already is defaulted on most areas, you can at least get
the volume of activity being done on the client side. In our situation, we
found two buyers not doing what they were trained to do.
Again, not your initial question but wonder if somewhat related.

Kevin

Dear Kevin, Rick, Joe, Josh, Rad, James,

Thanks a lot to all of you for your responses. I'm extremely sorry about
this delayed response. I was at a program during last few days and
couldn't
access the email on a regular basis due to the nature of the program I
was
attending.

Kevin/Rick : Yes, Link manager gives the detail but I want to access it
from
a database to run my own programs for certain analysis which should
include
other AS/400 application access running on the server including few
environments on Rel 6.0.

Rad : Might be able to use it for my purpose. As you have said correctly
it
might be lengthy process.

Joe : Looks I might be able to make use of your solution easily.

Once again thanks to all of you and for the forum as well.

Rgds
Shuhail

Link Manager (R7.8) gives you the details. Enjoy.

You can query the file LOGINS in AMCESSQL but you need to change the
CCSID of your job to 37 (CHGJOB CCSID(37)). This will make the file
'readable' and you will have to decipher the start and stop times as
they are linux/unix timestamps. These timestamps refer to the number of
seconds past midnight, January 1, 1970. There are probably some web
scripts to convert these.

Subject: [MAPICS-L] User Login/off data on Power Link

Hi Group,

Can some one let me know how to extract user log in and log out times of
power link (Rel 7.8) user sessions? The file LOGINS on AMCESSQL library
in
unreadable. I need to accumulate the usage of Power link sessions by
user ID
for a given day/period.

Thanks in advance
Shuhail
