Oops, I forgot a very important step. After you've created your edit, you will have to re-generate the edit buffer user exit. Next go into your source and search for the edit ID assigned when you created the edit. You will see a section of code that says something like...

C* START USER PROTECTED SECTION -
C* FINISH USER PROTECTED SECTION -

That's where you put your logic. Just above the user protected code are instructions for how to trigger the error condition (something like set W#ERFL to on and W#MSGD to the error message if necessary).

Just a disclaimer, I'm on 7.7 so some of this may have changed slightly.

To get started, go into your business object in integrator and create a new edit on the edits tab. Select the edit class of custom logic and give it a description.

On the General card, select a message file and message id to display when the error is encountered.

On edit attributes card and add any of the attributes you would like users to be able to edit when this error occurs. These fields will show up on an errors tab when the edit fails. Note this will only take effect if the edit class is Error.

Hope this helps,

josh

Subject: [MAPICS-L] R78 - Transaction Validation

I am using R78.

We want to prevent receipt transactions taking place where the standard cost is 0.

On Green Screen, we amended the transaction edit program to put out an error to the screen.

I want to do the same in Materials Management.

I have activated the user exits UXTAVK0R etc from the Inventory history object but cant work out

where to put the error message code if there is no standard cost.

I know that the user exits are called when I do a Purchase Order Receipt.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Thanks

Roger
