Hello, Restricting items that can be entered on a customer order makes perfect sense to all Infor XA users.
However Mapics/Infor does not understand this.
Over the years I have submitted enhancement requests to no avail.
We are left to make up our own solutions.
Many creative hours have/are wasted.
Most are after the fact ways to catch the item after entered and before the item gets shipped.
COM User exits exist for end of item entry and end of order processing.

My last discussion with Infor support was spent explaining why I didn't want to sell our yet to be fabricated raw materials to customers.
I submitted another enhancement request.
Big Sigh, again

I am trying to call AMDFEI0R and AMDFEP0R in R7.8. I have called them before in a R6 version and everything was working fine. Now at R7.8, I am receiving decimal data errors in both calls. Apparently, some of the parameters have changed. Does anyone have the proper parameters to call with their correct field sizes for these programs?

Thanks.

subject: [MAPICS-L] Restricting an item in COM

Hi all. I am looking for suggestions. I have an item that we only want 1 customer to be able to purchase. We want to make sure it does not get on any other customer orders. Is there a way to do this in COM? I am running v7 green screen. So for example: customer A is the only customer allowed to purchase product A. So if we enter an order for customer B and they add product A to the order is there a way to prevent it from being added to the order?

Hope this makes sense. Thanks!

At R6 we managed that sort of thing with the COM green screen User Exits, and it worked well. And we replicated that in CSM and COM_Net using the end of order user exits. It happened after the fact then, but we auto-added comments saying what we did. I can provide more detail if desired.

I'm assuming the same capabilities exist in R7 - I'm looking forward to seeing the rest of the answers.

Hi Eric,

I don't know but the sources of R7.8 are on the PCM DVD.
-----The following I got from the Knowledge base-------

Here is the solution: R7.8 Source Information Since 7.8 is not really and upgrade, it's more just another PCM, hence no initial source cd. If you burnt a cd from the ISO file - please look on it and see if there is a Library and/or file called Source. If there is, check for the program source you are looking for.
If you didn't burn a cd, then you would need to go back to the ISO file and locate it that way.
We had loaded the ISO file to the virtual drive, ran the command to show libraries on the optical drive.
You should find a library "SRC79000" restore this library to the I-series.
In this library you will find many source files.
In file "M7979000", you will find the source for the programs and printer files.
You can then copy the members to be retrofitted for custom coding into these modules and recompiled.

Hope this will help you,

Jules Bloemsaat

An option is to use the user exit UMBCOD1R, this program is executed right after the item entry and then you can validate the customer and item relationship and send a break message to the user if is invalid.

In R9, EPDM's implementation status has been expanded to limit an Item from being sold.

Currently, CSM has user exits to add edits at the time the item is entered on the order.
