I had two to apply recently on R 7.7 and had 68 pre-requisites. It was so
complex, I had to create a project plan and map the relationships between
them. Found out the some pre-requisites required their post-requisites!

HA! That will keep you up at night.

Welcome to PTF hell... the pre-requisites are out of control for every
PCM :-)

The last time I went through it I had a D-ring binder full of cover
letters for pre and post reqs just to apply a couple PCMs.

I agree.

That raises and issue: EVERYONE should be screaming for a PCM on R7.8.
The
number of PTF's and the prerequisites just to get things running are way
out
of control.

Call the hot line and DEMAND that they create a new PCM for R7.8.

I have one fix that is requiring a crap load of prerequisite PTF's!

Help!

For our upgrade to 7.8, this is what we did.

Created a test environment (TT) from MM and upgraded to 7.8.

After testing, program issues, etc., we backed up and then upgraded MM
to 7.8

Reinstalled PLMC to MM.

The most time consuming issue was apply PTFs past the 9955 level that we
needed and had already applied to MM at 7.7.

Weston

Creating a test and training environment (QQ) as you describe is good.

I'd recommend that for production "live" system. You first backup
MM...then
run the upgrade to R7.8, update PLMC, repoint to the forms created in QQ
during test and training...

You "fall back" is the backup of MM.

Nice, clean and less confusing to the users.

Hello All.

I have a question that maybe some of you CAS experts can help point me
in
the right direction.

I have been working on getting our production environment to 7.8.

So, I have built a 7.8 environment (QQ) from initial install and have
successfully immigrated data from

our 7.0 production environment (MM) . The QQ environment is at 9955 ptf
level.

We also run PLMC for labor reporting and Formtastic for MM.

I am thinking about these two paths for getting a our production to 7.8.

1. Run the data immigration from MM to QQ . Then installing PLMC
for QQ.

And then remove MM from the environment list and make QQ the default
environment so to speak.

That way I would have a fall back if needed.

2. Or be brave, and: Run the data immigration from MM to QQ.
Delete MM and then create MM from QQ.

That way I would have PLMC working out of the box. But I would crush the
old
MM and have no fall back.

Any thoughts would be helpful.

Thanks
