MAPICS XA

They are going to still have people with brand identity confusion.

I just had a user yesterday ask me what are we calling it? MAPICS, XA,

I thought I saw somewhere that R7.8 makes some changes to the product

Hello Terry,

Assuming you have MRP, MRP>4>1 or 2 (Review and approve) option A = check availability for planned orders
Or the same if you have OBPM (this is better because it only shows the short part)
It can be released there as well if you so choose.
The query path would be a long hard road in my estimation.

We have been trying to check shortages prior to releasing MO and are
looking for suggestions.

Anyone out there tried to tackle this by querying into Excel?

I have tried to tie together REQMTS, PLNORD, and DMDREF files.

Thanks for any help!!!

I believe there is a flag in the Demand Reference file, DMDREF, called
DQHO, Demand for Quantity On Hand that might be useful in this. You may
have to join it to the PLNORD file in order to identify the specific MO
to release and also to the Product Structure file to check components. I
have done a little on this but it is not top of mind right now so don't
know for sure whether it will work.

I still see INFOR as the company, and MAPICS as the product. I guess it
will be a matter of time, like the switch from AS400 to iSeries and so
forth...

In general, and using a compatible scenario like yours, we are still
referring to the term "MAPICS"...

Agreed. That is why I always say they are doing kind of a "new teaching"
of it... indoctrinating us about how to refer to it from that point on.

Let me tell you. <IMHO> I guess it will take a little time.... :o)

And don't even bring up the fact that "Browser", which became "Power
Link", is now "IDF" or "iSeries Development Framework". It will confuse
the heck out of everyone! lol.

You know when they change the name they can then charge more.

Until they fix the heading on the main menu of green screen:

MAPICS XA
Application Selection

They are going to still have people with brand identity confusion.

I just had a user yesterday ask me what are we calling it? MAPICS, XA, or Power-Link?

I thought I saw somewhere that R7.8 makes some changes to the product naming consistency, but I am not sure where I saw that.
