I think Olga is entitled to point out an alternative to the "quickie" just
in case there were SOX implications. There are also inventory valuation
considerations. I don't think her comments were mean-spirited, just some
"SOX humor" for everyone who has been there. I think your comments here are
out of line for this forum.

Olga,

Yes, I can spell it very well thank you. I have quite a few clients that
are publicly held and are obviously SOX oriented.

However, I also have clients that have to have things done YESTERDAY and
have to keep their business going! Maybe I should start refusing to do
what is requested of me by the client unless it follows SOX to the "T" no
matter if it adds hours to what they need now. But then again, I doubt that

I would have any left. I am in business to serve the client and have yet
to receive the first check from the auditors so I guess I will just continue

giving what the client wants.

Have a marvelous weekend.

Rusty,
All I can say is - can you spell SOX? Any updating of MAPICS-related
fields should have some type of auditing. I assume your clients did not
have auditors on their backs! Lucky you!

His question was "Is there a way to update the Default Cost with the
Standard Cost in item
master without running the Period End / Year End Close option in
IM?" Of course, you could create the CU transactions. But to
accomplish the task at hand quickly, the "quickie: would work and it
could be written and tested in a matter of minutes. Over the years,
I have had many clients request this simple task and not one of them
have wanted the CUs in their IMHIST file. But of course that is an
option.

Weston,
I would advise against writing the "quickie" program unless you also
include creating the CU transaction (standard unit cost default
replacement) for tracking/audit purposes.

Write a "quickie" to populate UCDEF in ITEMASA with STDUC from
ITEMASB.
