Hi Nick,

We have been using MDCC for years now. Works great. We are on XA/R6,
i5/OS V5R4. We use it with the PowerBuilder interface and touch screens
on standard PCs for data collection, thin clients and PCs with keyboard
wedges (to connect CCD and/or laser scanners and badge readers), and also
just the standard "green screen" interface, where applicable.

A point to consider is that you need to have a reasonable amount of memory
allocated to the correct subsystem pool for decent response
time/performance. We spent some money on some used memory and added it to
the iSeries, then added it to System Pool 3. Helped a lot!

I also like that it stays up with no problem during MAPICS backups, just
like COM_Net, since it uses separate libraries unaffected by XA backup
routines.

You may have some interesting times with the work schedules. That was
probably the hardest part for us. The additional ATM module helps there,
but we chose not to acquire it.

Training was a breeze. In fact, the union shop steward (or whatever the
current politically correct title is today) said that it was easier than
ordering a hot dog at our local convenience store chain! Once THAT got
around, training was a snap!
