You won't get any flame throwing from me. I use triggers when it is the best solution for the problem. The only thing to watch out for with COM files is that the programs may perform chains/updates to the same file many times. I remember looking at one program that chained/updated the MBC6REP file over 15 times (something like one for each group of fields needing updating).

How can you successfully use an "update" trigger when this happens without writing a great deal of supporting code?
