Re: MAPICS and user support

We have 55 Mapics R6 Users, about 60 PC's/Laptops, three servers 1
Exchange,1 SQL Server,! File Server, and one iSeries 720.  We have three
manufacturing locations and the users are spread out between Ohio and
Texas.

I started here 4 years ago as the EDI, Programming, Help Desk guy with 1
guy above me who did Network Admin, PC Repair, Phone System. He retired
a year and a half ago and now it's all mine.  The AP/Credit Manager is
my backup and does the operations and EDI when I am off and is up to the
point of doing it without her cheat sheets. 

So now I have everything and will be adding Web Programming this year
just to make things interesting.

My IT department supports 135 R6 MAPICS (IFM, IM, MRP, PCC, COM, IFM,
CAS, PUR, EPDM and Browser) users, 300+ P/C users worldwide (75 of which
are engineering users), two manufacturing locations, 45 mobile devices
(Blackberries) and provides all voice/data support.  I have one AS/400
programmer, one VB apps developer (mostly to support engineering), one
help desk person, one network administrator, one server support person,
and me (manager and AS/400 programmer).

 

I'm curious as to the size and organization of other MAPICS shops and
how many IT folks you have on staff and in what roles.

 

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
