I have found that just about any job can be automated if you know how to
determine the *pgm that mapics executes and what you need to manipulate in
the LDA to fill in the desired parameters. Just have a scheduler or robot
job is not enough for most jobs to execute properly as screen data is passed
to executing job.

Although we are not running CRP, we have automated IM month end closes, PCC
batch updates and closes, etc without to much trouble and feel I could help
in giving you pointers if you so desire.

We're running an iSeries 720, V5R1; Mapics V6

We have not done this but I would give no hesitation to recommending Robot
Schedule and Replay to perform a task like this.

We currently automate thinks like PO printing, Invoicing, Pick List
Printing, Backup execution w/ pre and post task, MRP, etc with the Robot
software and no custom programming. It is unlikely that you couldn't do
what you are looking to with Replay since it is a simple macro recorder.

Dale,

In R7 all host jobs and Host Reports that are migrated to the Power
Architecture can be submitted via System-Link. There is an local program
interface to System-Link that allows you to submit a request without need to
know anything about connecting to System-Link. You build your XML request
and pass it to the LPI.

Jeanne & Dale,

Have you every seen or reviewed RevScheduler from RevSoft? We had Robot
for a long time and about two years ago replaced it with RevSheduler.
It does the same functionality as ROBOT, but for a lot less cost and it
has better security for environments you can create. Something to look
into if you plan are required to justify spending $ for managements
approval.

to schedule a CRP run. We're not looking to upgrade to R7 for a while.

I will definitely look into getting ROBOT now.
