This is what we found on the Infor/XA support site. It is disturbing
and disappointing to see this with all of the new virtual tape backup
and RPG/XML support awaiting us in V5R4, and to see this; a "please do
not upgrade" recommendation from Infor a good 6 months after IBM's
general announcement on V5R4.

Here is the solution: Issues with V5R4
If you are using a PC and encounter issues with F1, F4, or the Home key,
please apply SH40962. This will NOT fix the problem on dumb terminals.
We have encountered some issues with V5R4, please do not upgrade to this
release level at this time.
Here is the problem or goal:
Issues with V5R4
Red X appears when pressing F1, F4, or Home keys
After upgrading to V5R4, getting Red X at the bottom of the screen when
pressing F1, F4, or Home keys
MUI not working on V5R4
XA Help, lookup and screen design functions are not working on V5R4
