Dale,

I've been reading the threads on Shipping Packages. I too would like a
copy
of the PPT on your custom solution. I've seen some of your presentations
at
the MAPICS conferences and your team always seems to come up with good
stuff.

I'm looking at Varsity and pFastship also.

Candy, there are several good add-on packages. We, however, wrote our own
and used the free (yes, I said free) MAPICS Offline Shipping Enhancement.
Works great (except for the occasional missing SA that was covered in this

thread a couple weeks ago).

I can e-mail you a PowerPoint on how we did it - I presented this about 3
years ago at the MAPICS User Conference.

We are looking to either build our own shipping system by hooking into UPS

and FedEx Servers or purchase a bolt-on shipping package. If you have
canned software what packages are you using and are you satisfied with
their
performance?

Thank you,

Arno,

We simulate that in our process by discretely allocating the parts to the
order WHEN THEY ARE PICKED, not at order entry time. That effectively
locks the items to the order. This is accomplished by programmagically (I
love that phrase, thanks to Jeff Snyder for teaching it to me) changing
the
allocation code on the order item record, and writing an SLALLO record
when
the item is scanned into the hold file for OFFSHIP processing.

PowerPoint will be e-mailed directly, as you can't send attachments
through
the Midrange.com server.

Dale,

Can you send me the PP presentation too. We want to change our current
working method for COM order shipments. Main struggle is that a COM order
with multiple items should be "on-hand" completly before we print the
picklist/invoice/packing note. This is not what we want. We feel that all
parts available should be directly transfered to the shipping dock waiting

for the remaining parts. It should prevent, that while waiting for the
missing parts, available parts are gone again . We use the COM module only

for service purpose, read: "maximum priority"! We do not how partly
picking
works in Mapics. We tried several times.

Thanks in advance,

subject: [MAPICS-L] cell scheduling

We have several work cells where we will have multiple folks clocked onto
a single Shop packets, orders. And we are trying to schedule with PCC
and
  resolve overloads with CRP.

Example: 3 employees clock onto a job at 7 am and off at 9 am.

This would accumulate 6 hrs of labor - and this is fine and reflects
  reality.

The problem is the JOB also accumulates 6 hrs of machine time - 2 hrs
per
  person.

I need to be able to use machine hrs to schedule the cell - but the JOB
  will only take 2 hrs.

Anytime we have more then 1 person on a packet the machine hrs are
  inflated.

This in turn inflates our averages and later standards .

I was curious if others out there have solved this 'cellular' scheduling
  issue.

Any relief in PLMC, or rel 7 ?

  I appreciate any input

  Thanks

  Jeff Snyder, CPIM
Guide Technologies ( working on an issue for Betts Ind)
