I have just done a restore to a new 520 from an 820. Both are at v5r3
however so it has gone very smoothly except for PowerLink which is
giving me some problems. There were also a few problems with some
logical files not restoring but I was able to restore those easily. To
do this, I did a save (option 21) entire system on the Save menu and
then the same (option 21) on the Restore menu. I also restored the LIC
and the Operating system prior to doing the option 21 restore since my
old box was at a more current OS level.

Subject: Transferring XA to a new machine

To all,
I have a few customers that are planning to upgrade to a new i-Series.
I was told by MAPICS/Infor that to move XA to a new machine, I would
have to go through the installation process to rebuild AMALIB on the new
machine (and put programs in QGPL, etc). The problem is that one
customer is at XA/R3 :(!! They are not sure if they can find the
original tapes, and even if they did, the new machine may not be able to
read those tapes.

Shouldn't I be able to do a SAVE ALL on the one machine (V4R2) and a
restore to the new machine (V5R3) and then install the new license keys?

Anyone done this?

TIA,
Eric A. Wolf
