Eric,

We did that and it worked fine EXCEPT that we accidentally restored a
couple libraries that got OS/400 confused between V4R3 and V5R2. However,
after we restored those libraries from my pre-conversion backup on the new
box, we were OK.

If you are careful to only restore the correct libraries, you should be
fine. I would also try to identify the QGPL objects that are specific to
MAPICS and copy those individually. If I recall, there aren't too many.

To all,
I have a few customers that are planning to upgrade to a new i-Series. I
was told by MAPICS/Infor that to move XA to a new machine, I would have to
go through the installation process to rebuild AMALIB on the new machine
(and put programs in QGPL, etc). The problem is that one customer is at
XA/R3 :(!! They are not sure if they can find the original tapes, and
even if they did, the new machine may not be able to read those tapes.

Shouldn't I be able to do a SAVE ALL on the one machine (V4R2) and a
restore to the new machine (V5R3) and then install the new license keys?

Anyone done this?

TIA,
Eric A. Wolf
