Bob,

There are a number of steps that will need to take place.

First, you will need to make sure your inventory has been cleared from the
item balance records.

Next, you will have to write a user program to load the information into the
item balance offline load file. Off the top of my head, I believe the name
of this file is tmp113.

Now, you will need to delete the records from the item master, routing and
product structure files. Again, you will need to write a program to do this
because you may have items in other warehouses that you are still
manufacturing. If this is the case, then you will probably not want to
delete any records from these files.

Once you are comfortable with what you are going to delete, you can run the
offline file maintenance from the CAS File maintenance menu. The bad thing
about this is that you will need a dedicated environment.

The offline file maintenance process is well documented in the PDM and IM
manuals in the appendices. The file names are listed here.

Another alternative to this is to write your own "blaster" program to go
through and physically delete the records from these files. If you are not
intimately familiar with the product data base, I would not recommend this.
You need to make sure you get all of the records associated so you do not
have any "orphans" out there.

I hope this helps.

Sincerely,

Richard,
I can see where this is useful but how do you get a file to use as
the
offline Maint. when they already reside on the Product Structure.

Sorry this is the first I've ever played with Offline Maint.

Bob

Bob,

Generally speaking, the "best" way to perform a mass delete without pdm plus
or epdm is to utilize the offline maintenance feature of pdm. That is
generally the best way to let "MAPICS do what MAPICS (or Infor XA)" do what
it does best.

Good Morning,
We have a warehouse we have closed and we want to delete all of the
data
that is associated with it. What is the best way to do a Mass delete all of
the PDM structures and Item Balances that associated with that warehouse.
