Depending on what version of OS you are running, it could make a small 
difference.  The newer releases don't seem to be effected as much when 
left up & running for long periods of time.  We seem to notice performance 
issues when we start getting close to 80% dasd usage.  We used to IPL 
every weekend, but now it will be months before doing one & we don't 
notice any performance issues because of it.

Performance Issue






We are experiencing seveier performance issues with our system some for
obvious reasons (size of box).  I'm new to the 400 so no laughing, I
have never done and IPL on this server.  I was told by a tech at MAPICS
to do a monthly IPL  and do a recapture of space. 

 

Is this standard practice?  Will it improve performance?  We are looking
at cleaning up some files that have grown very large.  I'm assuming we
would do the recapture after cleaning these up.  Thanks for any
assistance.
