Hi Willie,

The relative relationship of the system pools appears ok. So it is going to
depend upon a couple of things. 1. Which system are you running? Prior to
the iSeries upgrades getting client applications to function quickly was a
chore, to say the least. 2. How many users? Each client user will launch a
number of pre-fetch jobs that take up some memory.

As for adjustments, the auto adjust features of AS/400 in R5 work very, very
well.

I guess another thought is this. What does "poor performance" mean? For
example, lets say I am comparing COM/Green Screen or EWP to CS/Client
Architecture. While the CS screens do not "pop" up, they actually execute
much more information in a short period of time. Even more so if your using
the template features, broadcast/receive, etc.

I've experienced green screen users that complain about the speed because it
takes about the same time as MS word to load; and then when measured,
actually increased productivity with a "slow" browser implementation.

Kevin,
Here is the display:

 System Pool Reserved Max
Pool Size (M) Size (M) Active Pool
    1      135.33     69.42   +++++  *MACHINE
    2 704.47 1.36 123 *BASE
    3 15.43 .00 8 *SPOOL
    4 158.09 .01 26 *INTERACT

See anything that might need adjusting?
Willie..

What is the system configuration? How much of your memory is dedicated to
interactive vs. batch vs. system, etc.?

Subject: Poor system response time when Browsers/Integrator is started.

Whenever we start up Browser our system response times slow way down. Even
after Browser is up and running, the response does not improve. I would like
to know if anyone is having or has had this problem, and if so how was it
corrected.

We have also tried to automate the start/stop procedures:

PSICTLJVS REQUEST(*LIST) ENVLIST(MM) CTLOPT(*START)

PSICTLJVS REQUEST(*LIST) ENVLIST(MM) CTLOPT(*END) +
             GLBSRV(*YES)

This is not working either.

Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
William Moore
