Re: AR Conversion To MAPICS IFM

I would think twice about using the IFM Conversion tools because they are 
designed to do a total conversion - entities, terms, currency, taxes, and open 
accounts receivable. They do not create Legacy System Bridge records until the 
supporting data has been addressed: Here is an alternative:

  a.. Clean up your AR in your old system. Specifically, apply unapplied cash 
and credit memos, and write-off uncollectable invoices.
  b.. "Clean AR" has a short life--typically 30 to 60 days. Use the OLD system 
to record these payments and journal the results into IFM at least once a 
month. 
  c.. Use IFM for NEW AR and operate business aa usual.
Operating this way may mean hiring temporary AR help. But, it is simpler and 
far less costly than writing a program to convert your old AR into Legacy 
System Bridge records.

We are currently running MAPICS XA R6 with IFM on an AS/400.  We
recently made an acquisition of another company and I need to convert
their AR to MAPICS IFM.  They are not any version of MAPICS.  My plan
was to use the AR conversion program from the MAPICS IFM CONVERSION
TOOL.  This program reads the MAPICS OPENAR file and writes records the
IFM Legacy Bridge.  My question is can anyone give me examples of or
tell me the required fields of OPENAR records for the following
transaction types.

 

Invoices             TRTYP = 1

Credit Memos    TRTYP = 1

Cash Receipts   TRTYP = 2

Adjustments      TRTYP = 3
