We are in the similar situation. I login and do a MAPICS backup every
weekend. It would be great to avoid this. I know I go through several
steps before I run the backup( IM, PMC, Delete Abend jobs ...) How can
you schedule those tasks

Hans
There are some PTF's that you would need to look up. (Sorry don't have
them in front of me). This was one of the Mapics enhancements for R6...
Load these ptf's and it give the option to put an entry on the AS400 job
scheduler and forget about it. Just like any other job that you would
put on the scheduler.
Once there you could change times, put on hold.
As I remember there are several. So make sure you read the coverletters.
Only issues I am of was.
If you are browser users and you tell it to knock the users off. It was
not env sensitve. That might be fixed now.
Also if you use the IBM DcConnect product for Job reporting and Inv
trans. There were some issues stoping and re-starting.
Anything let me know
Pete

Pete,

What do you mean with putting the Mapics Backup to the AS400 job
scheduler?

Within Mapics (We use rel. 6) you can't schedule more than 14 day's
ahead.

Is there away to avoid that?

We use the PRE en POST backup routines to add custom libraries, (PML&C
for
example), to the backup.

that Mapics does some house cleaning when you run the Mapics
Backup(batches,trdata).

Mapics
backup..

sessions, including browser. I have a couple of customers running the R6
backup.. Seems to be working fine...It just puts an entry on the AS/400
job
scheduler.
