We are on IFM now, but when we were on Accounting Management, I had this
problem all the time.

Deleting the records are OK provided they truly were for last year and the
users don't need them because they made adjusting journal entries last year to
adjust for the "missing" transactions. It was my experience that these
orphaned records were due to the user keying a posting date of a month prior to
the current month and the closing would not pick them up leaving them stranded
in TEMGEN forever.

If the transactions are truly for this year, you may need to change the year
and let them post. The users need to make this decision. Sometimes the users
key in the wrong posting date and mapics allows it.

I had a query that the user would run just before closing, that would look for
any dates in TEMGEN that were less than the current month, so the records could
be fixed or deleted before closing the month and not be left behind in TEMGEN.

Subject: TEMGEN contains prior year PR JEs

Environment: Mapics DB, Mod 4

Hi group:

Our P/R person ran the "Payroll Temporary General Ledger listing" (AMV611) for
Period 5, April 2004 and upon examination of the report, we find that it
includes Period 5 P/R JE's from both this fiscal year and the last fiscal year.

I looked at TEMGEN using Query/400 and found that of the 5,023 Period 5 P/R JE
records, only 984 were from this current fiscal year. The rest appear from
Period 5 for the prior fiscal year.

Is there a fix for this using Mapics?

If all the prior fiscal year records were made "inactive," I suppose that would
solve the problem.

But is there a way to delete these 4,039 records quickly and efficently?

I look forward to your comments.
