Subject: Re: From the Believe or Not Department at MAPICS...

My company ran into this terrible price dilemma a couple of years ago.
Shucks, a used processor upgrade to our 9406 Model 500 would
cost about $2,000 but the affiliate wanted something like 25 times that
for the software "tier".

Background comment: I started my career with MAPICS on a System/34
in March 1980 and was the first Westinghouse manufacturing site,
followed
by about 50 more. I did MAPICS 1980-1992, 1999-2002.

We shut off MAPICS and went with a competing AS/400-based platform
on Jan 1, 2003.
By coincidence with todays topic about costs and people considering
walking away from the product, today I was emptying out the old three
ring binders with the MAPICS XA3 manuals into the recycled paper bins.

I'm going to be unsubscribing from the MAPICS-L list with a heavy heart.
I've got 3,398 saved MAPICS-L messages in my folder going back
to June 10, 1999, but there's not much point in filing them anymore.
