A relatively "safe" convention (not that it's foolproof, but it usually
works) is to start from 99 and count backwards, i.e. IMHIST99, IMHIST98,
etc.  I did encounter a third-party add-on that did the same thing once, but
that was the only trouble I ever had with it.

Yes, it's definitely best to always recompile logicals rather than copy them
from one environment to another.  Saves a lot of surprises, none of which
have ever been good.
