Doug,

It sounds like that might be a candidate for the MAPICS application called
ISL (Intersite Logistics).
What it basically lets you do is transfer demand from one warehouse to
another.

Assume the following scenario:
WH 1 has a need for Item A (could be to fill a customer order or for use
in manufacturing)
WH 1 (requesting warehouse) normally gets Item A from WH 3 (supplying
warehouse).
Without getting into every last detail of how this works, basically if you
set the item A up in ISL as described. Then the MRP run for WH 1 will
automatically create a transfer order (like a CO-PO relationship) between
the two plants, effectively transferring the demand from WH 1 to WH 3.
Shipping in WH 3 is done in ISL (prints a BOL to deliver to your WH 1
plant). In this case, WH 3 would also run MRP, most likely.

The same scenario can be done from WH 2 to WH 3.

I would describe ISL as both simple and sophisticated in the same breath.
How your business operates is what makes it either simple or complex.

Subject: MRP Primary and Planning warehouses

I have 2 production facilities, WH 1 and WH2. I have them both setup as
planning warehouses. I have a WH 3 that supplies both production
facilities
but in my warehouse setup I can only define WH 3 as a demand warehouse for
one of my planning warehouses.

How can I use WH 3 as a demand warehouse for both planning warehouses?
Should I change the primary planning warehouse for WH 2 to WH 1?

Thanks
