Joan, et al

We are concerned about the Engineering Drawing (we store the revision)
number appearing on the P.O. for QS9000 procedures. By using a second item
number ("machining"), this is not possible except to manually key it in the
extended description, which is error prone.

Is anyone handling Outside Processing, using the "real" item number with an
operation no? or any other solution that prevents doubling the on order and
receipt quanitities, etc. yet preserves the item number integrity?

PS: Obviously, we do NOT have EPDM.

PS It goes without saying (I hope) that you issue the PO for the service
being performed, not for the finished (or WIP) end item. I.e. we issue the
PO for "machining," not for the item being machined. We put what item is
being sent (item # and brief description) in the PO extended description
fields, and the MO number and operation in the appropriate PO line item
fields...
