The problem that I have found is that the clean up function that MAPICS does
with a backup doesn't happen. We are a 24/6 shop and I just finished by
daily backup. I kick everyone off for the 10-15 min. that it takes to
backup (3850 tape drives are great!) We have made certain inquiries
available during backup so that production can find materials they need.
Our barcode system stores scans while we are in backup and then loads the
data when backup is done.

I've seen reference to a "Save While Active" on the list in the past. Can
anyone point me to how to do this? I'd like to try it to solve my skipped
files problem - don't know if it would help Tom or not.

Thanks - Joan

All,

I apologize if this is an old topic, but what are those of you doing for
reliable nightly MAPICS or other data backups for 3-shift operations, with
no offshift systems support? Currently, I only do a MAPICS backup weekly
and a library backup nightly ... however during my nightly backups some
files are skipped because they are in use. This is an area I have been
somewhat lax in and need to get better before I get stung.

Any suggestions/hints are appreciated.
